Providing your tax file number (TFN) to CareSuper

You aren’t obliged to provide your TFN to CareSuper. However, if you don’t provide it:

  • You might pay more tax on your super contributions. Sometimes you may be able to claim this tax back, however time limits and other rules may apply
  • We may not be able to accept contributions for you
  • It may be more difficult for you to monitor your account or to locate it if you lose track of it.

CareSuper is authorised to collect your TFN under the Superannuation Industry (Supervision) Act 1993. We will treat it as confidential and only use it for lawful purposes.

In addition, you authorise the trustee to use your TFN to search the ATO SuperMatch database and to recover any super monies held by the ATO in your name and to automatically transfer those monies to your CareSuper account. The monies held by the ATO include superannuation guarantee contributions, superannuation holding accounts, superannuation co-contributions, low-income contributions and unclaimed superannuation monies. We’ll notify you of those amounts transferred to your CareSuper account.

Searching the ATO SuperMatch database will also provide a list of other superannuation accounts held in your name and we’ll provide you with information about those accounts and how you can consolidate them with your CareSuper account.

Once you’ve provided your consent above, it will remain effective until such time as you advise us to remove it. To remove consent please contact us.
